Olivia (Kerry Washington) finds herself — once again — paying the price for her own success.

The thing about requiem episodes is, they serve as a way for a show to reset itself while exploring how the characters doing so after a particularly noteworthy loss. In the case of Scandal, last week’s clearing of the decks also showed the show bumping up against its own self-imposed limits more visibly than usual.

This week, we catch up with Daryl, Beth, Sacha, Bob, and Maggie. We meet (though we kind of already saw them once before) new bad guys. We find out what it means to be alone. More importantly, our patience with the show gets tested.

The action slows down just a little bit this week, as Michonne spends some quality time with Carl and we learn more about the new friends Glenn and Tara have made.

Read along as Rob, Nicole, and I share our thoughts and questions that will likely never be answered.

TWD1

This week on TWD, we continue to learn the fates of our favorite characters. This episode is a rare treat in that it does not feature our leading man at all. I suppose the storylines have no choice but to split up like this when the group is scattered, but still. Any chance to give some of the minor(ity) characters to step out of Rick’s shadows is one I will take!

Join Rob, Nicole, and I as we recap and discuss our favorite moments from this week.

“Where is the happy ending here?” I don’t know how close to the end of show we are, but this is the question posed by an unexpected and awesome guest this episode and no doubt will be carried over into the rest of the season.

Previously, on TWD, life in the prison blew up. In every sense of the term. The group is scattered. The whereabouts and welfare of our favorite characters remain unknown. (OMG LIL ASSKICKER.) TWD comes back from break on a rather bleak note, as always, but for specific reasons and moments, has been never been better.

Join Rob, Nicole, and I after the jump as we essentially compose a love letter to Michonne. (And Carl, I guess.)

Previously on TWD, we’re reminded of why the Governor hates Michonne with such a fiery passion. We begin the mid-season finale with the Governor holding court in his new camp. He’s giving his new family his Braveheart speech and tells them that he has leverage and will use them to get access to the prison. No one will have to die if his plan goes well. Yeah, right.

Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) indulge in a shared future for one night.

Score this round for the (relatively) good guys.

In the last episode before the winter finale, we saw the pieces begin to move. While Olivia and Fitz’s dalliance in the house revealed just how far Fitz’s obsession flame went — not to mention how badly he seems to want out of politics — the duo also came to an understanding, if not an outright alliance. Each would do what they had to do to unravel Eli and B613.

And now the wildest card of all has landed on Olivia’s doorstep.
