Voting And The Battle For White Cultural Dominance

It is in this context that the current voter suppression efforts we are seeing around the country should be understood. Overcoming these efforts in this election cycle is only one among many battles. I think you completely missed the point of this post. The author is talking about how voter suppression is used to maintain white power and dominance. A lot of fear around America “losing it’s way” and “changing” is rooted in a racist fear of the country no longer being predominantly white and white dominated. Hence why the media panics when they realize most Millenial’s are POC or that the country will be majority POC within most of our lifetimes. The author is simply using food as an example of how identity is wrapped up particular artifacts and shifting from that to how American identity is wrapped up in race.
