"A UCLS professor has resigned from its admissions committee, claiming he suspects the University is cheating to illegally admit African-American students."
Hey I am actually pretty close to this issue….I used to work in the UCLA Undergrad Admissions Office! I worked there the year they only admitted 96 (then 102) black students…….Soooo this really hits home!
How does he know something “illegal” must be occurring just b/c there are more black students. If the number had increased from 96 to 960, then Wow, that would be a big clue….but increasing from 96 to 235….were is the red flag there?!!!!! UCLA received the most applications in the country….not just Cali….but the entire USA. If they admitted more black students then who else’s numbers went up….Blacks can’t be (and aren’t) the only pop to increase with the new evaluation process. How does the Prof. know that some “majority” students were not admitted who would not have been admitted w/o this new process? (Seriously!!!) Why go after the Blacks who may have been helped by the process – go after everyone….The South Asian/PI kids, the Latino kids – everybody (if you really want to have a witch hunt). That makes it obvious that the Prof. has an agenda….Black mediocrity is criminalized, while White mediocrity isn’t even an issue.
