I find it funny how many Americans, and the media plays it’s role too, always complain that blacks should be the ones to take personal responsibility , pull themselves out of the gutter, go on and on about their white immigrant grandparents who came from nothing and made something of themselves.

Then you have Barack and Michelle Obama. Two African-Americans who grew up poor, one on food stamps, and eventually made it to Ivy League schools and are poised to become two of the most powerful/influential people on the planet.

And to many non blacks they’re elitist, “out of touch with the average working man” , a bitter/angry black woman who should be grateful complaints, etc this this is coming from many non-blacks who don’t feel comfortable seeing blacks outside of our percieved stereotypical roles in society. In short I think many non-blacks consider the Obama’s, especially Michelle, to be uppity.

I’m not sure how McCain and his beer heiriss wife (whose jet she’s kind enough to let her husband use) or loan myself $11 million for rainy days while I have someone pump my gas Clinton escape these labels, and the Obama’s just finished paying off their college loans a couple of years ago.

Basically I’m hoping Michelle can do the same smiling negro dance that many blacks nationwide have to do to placate White Americans and make them feel comfortable. Many of whom (not all) never feel the need to go out of their way to make anyone else comfortable. Unfortunately it’s something many blacks, and the Obama’s included I’m sure, are all to familiar with.
