I saw the Civil Rights photo exhibit at the High Museum a few weeks. Wow! The real standout for me was the sequence of photos capturing the attack on the Freedom Ride bus — the NYTimes article leads off with one of those photos.

When the bus stopped in Anniston, townspeople slashed its tires. Then the bus drove on the rims for six miles desperately trying to escape the townspeople, who followed in about forty cars. Eventually the posse caught up to the crippled bus, attacked the passengers and set the bus on fire. The riders were injured but amazingly none of them died that day.

    This is my fave:

Barack Obama has the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE tattooed on his stomach. It’s upside-down, so he can read it while doing sit-ups.
