[The post] captures that distinct, tacky awkwardness one feels when white people, especially ones who’ve never been to Harlem, try to act like they’re used to being surrounded by Black people, especially when it’s being done for marketing purposes.

Latoya (that is whom I assume to be LDP), why do the women at Feministing not garner the favor you have reserved only for Cara?

Blurpleberry,
I really like Jessica, Vanessa, Ann, and Courtney (I met them a while back) and I am a big fan of Samhita. I also love Holly and Jill from Feministe.
But I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for mainstream feminists to acknowledge what Hillary has been saying and doing and implying. And I haven’t heard a peep. Nothing.
As far as I know, Cara is the only feminist writing for a large blog who has been willing to discuss how what HRC is doing is alienating a lot of people. There are many smaller blog feminists doing the same thing. But it is disappointing to see so many people who would call themselves allies not even address what HRC is saying and doing – yet continue to post celebratory posts if she wins a state.
The Feministing team is staying neutral, and while I understand why they are doing so, I can’t say I’m pleased.

Hey. The ‘Raiders of the Lost Race’ article doesn’t mention the fact that the whole movie turns native South Americans into rabid chimpanzees for the scare factor, a part that led to me walking out of the movie theatre.
Not to mention the inaccuracies about South American civilizations in general. (Hello? The Nazca speak an Athapaskan family language, and during the heydey of the Inca high court wrote in quipus–they did not speak Maya, nor did they write in Maya.)
It’s almost as eye-rolling as Apocalypto or King Kong; easily as eye-rolling as King Kong.
It just annoys me more that one of these producers/directors also directed and produced ‘Schindler’s List’…
