That they use the euphemism “urban” in the press release gives me some pause. That and the presence of D.A.G. The Daily Show is VERY white-ethnocentric. I wish they would diversify instead of reinforcing the comedy ghetto

I guess the folks over at TDS think having Larry Wilmore on ever now and then is all the diversity they can handle.

“Chocolate News” makes me nervous, especially since DAG hasn’t been funny for at least 15 years. Comedy Central just needs to wake up to the fact that they will probably never have another Chappelle Show.

My local unintentionally funny news program in Seattle has more Asians and Blacks in front of the camera that we’d ever hope to see on that mock news show.

The Larry Wilmore bits seem to always center around white people’s discomfort with discussing race. The fact that they only have one black correspondent and the call him their “black correspondent” does mimic the way the major news channels sometimes bring out the black pundit to discuss a race-relations issue. However the mainsteam media is actually more diverse!
TDS reinforces the idea that black people are the ones always going on about race while white people are above it all or colorblind or something. Also, if you’ve ever seen all their writers get on stage at an awards show you’ll see that they practice discrimination in hiring. Jon Stewart made a crack years ago at the Emmys about how diverse they weren’t but they haven’t cared to do anything about it since.
