1. White folks already think of Black men as murderous monsters – it would just reinforce that deadly stereotype.
2. As for the brothas on the corner with the 9mm’s – there are certain iron economic realities which govern that sphere of the business world.
a. many young Black men are locked out of legit jobs
b. they’re driven to the drug trade, for lack of other options
c. in the drug world, because that business is itself illegal, business disputes and labor conficts must be settled by illegal, usually violent, means.
Bottom line, as long as Black men are forced into the underground economy, there will be drug related murders.
If you don’t change that basic economic reality, nothing else can be done – and moralistic handwringing, while understandible, is less than useless.
