Could you explain that column of hers? I’ve read it several times, and I thought the points she made were so disparate that they bordered on incoherence.

And that stat about black people thinking they were wealthier than white people during the ’90s? It makes me think the peopel surveyed didn’t understand the question.

the article about Colt 45 doesn’t even mention race or ethnicity…therefore I can only assume that this blog sees “malt liquor” and automatically associates it with a certain race or ethnic group, thereby perpetuating the very stereotypes it is ostensibly trying to deconstruct. why else is it being linked to here? would it be okay to link to a press release about Popeye’s new flavor of fried chicken? to me, this is just as bad. what is going on inside your mind that made you decide to link to this?

Nice politically correct try there Alfish. What are you, 23? 24?

The article doesn’t have to mention race or ethnicity. It is common knowledge that Colt 45 is associated with Black folks - particularly poor black folks, so Racialicioius is not “perpetuating a stereotype” out of thin air. Anyone within 10 feet of a black neighborhood in the 80s or 90s saw Billy Dee on those Billboards (or they saw him in magazine and TV ads) for Colt 45.

    Common. Knowledge.

However, apparently it is not common knowledge to the Pabst Brewing company that designer paper bags to market their beer is NOT a good look! Drinking beer out of a paper bag is associated with drunks and losers. It was never “cool” or “hip” and a designer bag is not going to change that.

p.s. just in case yall missed it, that was a joke…
i agree with angry asian man that it’s a bit odd/kind of offensive, esp considering that it’s a surgical procedure for her COSTUME…then again, lots of women and men do things here to their bodies to advance their careers. couldn’t we say that a porn star getting big boobs is part of her “costume”? and then the same could be said for women who enhance their butts in hopes of looking like stereotypical black and/or latina women. people modify their bodies to match the times, and, as annoying as it may be, some races (or at least features considered inherently of that race) are “in” more than others depending on the era

The upstate NY chapter of NOW has responded to the Kennedy endorsement. Apparently in their worldview gender trumps all and black women don’t exist (I wish I could say it was surprising).

About that woman getting her eyes medically slanted: is this the fetishization of the Asian taken to an extreme, or a potential challenge to the beauty standard defined and perpetuated by white people (and pretty much everyone else)?
