    I certainly don’t buy the idea that he’ll win the ‘racist vote’, but if Obama were a few shades darker and without a placeless accent — and therefore, unable to have people assign any racial narrative upon him they choose — he’d have a harder time appealing to a lot of voters.

    I also wouldn’t be surprised if there were voters out there who’d vote for Obama to as proof of their unracist bonafides. you know, ‘I’m not racist! Some of my best Democratic presidential candidates are black!’ and so forth.
