Old El Paso ad sheds light on long-simmering feud

by Carmen Van Kerckhove

What? An ad full of Latino people and tacos and stuff, and nobody uttered the word “caliente?” I’m so disappointed! ;)

Luckily there were plenty of other stereotypes to take its place. (Thanks Jessica!)

Is that Jack Black doing the voiceover? I swear I had visions of Nacho Libre watching this commercial: “Sometimes, Chancho, when we are big, we wear estretchy pants…”

    Duro!

Sorry, I’m going to have to go with the Suave here!

But, it’s nice to know that the political conflicts in Mexico all boil down to the hard vs soft taco issue!

Maybe the PRI, PAN, PRD and the Zapatistas need to have a UN brokered sumit meeting about this!!!

There are no hard tacos in Mexico, at least south of Zacatecas (where they prefer REAL gorditas, a thick pocket tortilla, sort of like a pita).

The end is the kicker, when everyone is dancing and celebrating. Just wow…

The better question, do they even sell Old El Paso in Mexico?
