“So why the rush to make [Sean] Taylor a thug? Perhaps because that’s how the average American sees young black men—unapologetic thugs hustling and acting out.”

Great write-up from Baratunde about Barack Obama’s appearance at the Apollo.

“in Hip-hop Jewish stereotypes function as something far more complex. They become a symbol of hope, proof that in America even the most hated can succeed.”

“Claiming that women in circumsicion cultures uphold the traditions because they want to just rhymes too closely with the good ol’ boys who claimed that their ‘nigras’ were happy as clams until the ‘outside agitators’ and ‘civil rightsers’ got ‘em all con

Mr. Carmen wondered aloud this morning if Imus would start his new show by saying “Nappy-headed ho’s! Nappy-headed ho’s! Haha you can’t get me anymore!” I guess instead, Imus found two black sidekicks. “I can’t be racist, my co-hosts are black!”

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed something seriously wrong with the Sean Taylor coverage. The way the media is spinning the entire thing they make it sound like the guy halfway had it coming. What does his past have to do with 4 guys breaking into his house to rob him?? On CNN’s out in the open last night they were talking about Sean Taylor and asking if Athletes invite the problems that befall them. Something tells me that if this had been a white athlete killed after 4 blacks broke into his house to rob him this entire thing would be getting a completely different amount of attention.

I completely agree, EH. After the Duke Lacrosse case debacle a lot of sports media said they learned their lesson and that they were going to wait and not rush to judgment anymore. Clearly that all went out the window.

I think I am beginning to sincerely HATE Jason Whitlock. I do not hate many people, but that windbag’s rantings and ravings are so stupid and yet damaging I cringe just hearing his name aloud. It makes me wanna punch a doe.
Really, though, think about how his articles would look if the author’s name was David Duke? Then it’d be called what it is, racist white-supremacist ideology.
He uses all the logical fallacies in the book, the straw man being one of his favorites, to create a social narrative of the black thug with ever-increasing credibility in the white media, a stronger credibility now than people like Imus or Richards ever had, and he uses this power for evil. What a despicable person Jason Whitlock is.
