Muslim students at Florida Atlantic University hold a silent protest, and this is what happens: “One of the audience’s members, an FAU employee, went so far as to spit on one of the young Muslim ladies outside, herself a student at FAU.”

“There has already been a protest on campus and another is scheduled this Wednesday. The president of Geneseo says he’s disgusted by the students dressed in “black face” but says it’s protected speech.”

My aunt told me the other night she heard what sounded like a Gatling gun: a round of successive gunfire. Then she waited for the cops to come, but they were already there. She’s appalled by what’s happening in her Bed-Stuy. She’s lived there ever since I can remember, back when telephone numbers included letters like “GL” for Glenwood. It’s where I grew up. I don’t like thinking that the next time I visit her, I’d better leave before sundown. (And what are the gentrifying white neighbors thinking?)
When I first heard this story I immediately thought about that African American Wallet Exchange” video clip from Michael Moore’s “The Awful Truth.” I don’t how justified the cops were. Over the telephone Coppin is heard saying that he had a gun; yet, when he confronts them he reveals a hairbrush? How many times have black people been shot for holding what cops suspect is a weapon? Heck! I feel the need to be cautious when I take out my black mp3 player!
Anyway, suicide by cop is a possibility I suppose. But, why is contagious shooting necessary?
