Just in case you didn’t know what a Chinese male looks like

by Carmen Van Kerckhove

Wondering what’s going on in that photo? Well, that’s the scientific description of a Chinese male, according to this Hannity & Colmes guest. From Angry Asian Man:

Former homicide detective Wheeler, in defense of the police, says the the investigators had indeed narrowed down the suspect to a Hispanic male. “Not a Black male, not a Chinese male—with his eyes like this—but a Hispanic male.” Yes, he pulled back his eyes. (At about 1:41 on the video clip.) The international symbol for “chink,” as we all know. An old police trick he learned on the playground, no doubt. Ah, Fox News. Teaching America racist gestures, one viewer at a time.

Not only does the fool not think twice about pulling his stupid eyes back, but nobody else on the damn show has the guts to call him out on it. And to pile insult atop of injury, he vomits up the grossest stereotypes about race and ethnicity that he can think of.

Fox News. Asinine just isn’t a strong enough word.

    This is some bullshit.

And cosign with Yolanda - why did no one else on the show say anything? If the hosts couldn’t see (via sattelite) where were the producers?

These people never been to China or Asian. Asian have almond shaped eyes. This guy sure proved his point to people. Disgusting.

Fox news sure bring in some quality people.

This is FOX NEWS. The man was probably called for the show b/c of his eye-pulling method of identification.

…even though that guy pulled his eyes back, he still looks like the black male suspect 15-85; 5 feet - 7 feet…

To some, I don’t think that gesture would be seen as overtly racist. I know we can see it that way because it was brought up to us on a site that deals with racism and most of us have taken that step to being more conscious about it.

I also think it is relatively easy to just pull up the corners of one’s eyes as opposed to acting out a stereotype. Evidence of that would be his dumb portrayal of a Jamaican man.

gatamala: What point are you trying to make by saying that? It seems like you’re doing exactly what the man in question is doing.

Daomadan: That’s the joke. gatamala is making the point that it’s ironic the HC guest feels some comfortable generalizing, given that he probably deals with the same thing.

I think we should have federally mandated new demographic workshops for everyone at fox

To some, “ching chong” wouldn’t be seen as overtly racist, either. I don’t know what difference this makes.

This guy’s a fucking douchebag. And I’m hoping we’re being facetious here when we say we’re surprised Sean frickin Hannity didn’t call him out on that.

Look mon. I have some ganja…

    there are no words.

So: he was saying it wasn’t a Chinese male from Shaanxi Province, the only place where most people actually have those upward “slanting” (sorry, for lack of a better word) eyes, but hey it could have been a Chinese male from the other 95% of China? Right?

I shouldn’t be surprised. I’ve had editors at major publications who weren’t clear what this “Mainland” thing I keep mentioning is… And they’re just well-intentionedly ignorant; at Fox, they’re ignorant and malicious.

sad to see someone who has probably suffered from the same type of casual, hurtful racism find it okay to do it to others. i wonder what this guy would have said if someone tried to describe an african-american male by painting blackface on himself.

    “knee-grow”? hehehe, that’s funny!

Good, point, though. I, too, would like to think that anyone with immediate black lineage MIGHT know what it feels like to be classified in such an assinine manner and could/would treat other brown races with better taste. Did you see how he stuttered when he FINALLY got around to descrubing the characteristics of hispanic men? (by then he realized how “full-of-it” he sounded)
And no he didn’t…no he didn’t decribe black men as someone who looks like him! I know darn well that he has not forgotten that black people run the rainbow in skin tone and MANY black and part black men look as if they could be the same race as the man in the drawing. Then went so far as to immitate a Jamaican accent. I mean, WOW, he really packed in the racism.
I’m not Asian, but I am pissed that no one called him out on the eye tactic. So, now we have to be “of that race” to take a stand? Maybe some one did and it was cut off? Hope so.
Count down till Rev. Sharpton or NAACP publically takes a stand …(warning: don’t hold your breath)…
