Bone through the nose and all. I haven’t seen such blatant racist imagery since my Tin Tin-reading days in Belgium. 
Don’t forget the Zagar and Steve commercials (http://www.bluecorncomics.com/zagar.htm) from last year. They were essentially the same idea.

Never read Tin Tin; I was unaware of the racist imagery until I looked it up. WTF?
Never read “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” either, but I’ve heard about the original depiction of the Oompa-Loompas. “The first edition of the book described them as dark-skinned pygmies from Africa who let out warlike chants.”
There’s a few of these type ads floating around from that company.

That reminds me of the Sambo character that was real popular especially in latin american countries. I remember in the 90’s or maybe late 80’s when Sambo dolls were selling like hot cakes in Japan.
My own family still buys syrup marketed by a big Mammy stereotype, so this just isn’t surprising.
I believe this is the same company with the “shoot the rapper” ads. They’ve revamped them so that you now “shoot” the obvious 50 Cent characture with a camera, but I remember a short lived version awhile back where it was more than implied that one was shooting a gun.
Funny, but when I saw this I immediately thought about the “shoot the rapper” ads. Wouldn’t be surprised if the same company is responsible.
Surely everyone knows that we in Africa are all half naked savages with questionable taste in self-adornment?!

No wonder so few Americans refuse to believe me when I tell them, yes, I’m really in South Africa, Yes, I really have internet, No, I don’t go to school on the back of an elephant, No, we don’t have lions freely roaming the streets…
And surely EVERYONE knows tigers are indigenous to Asia…?!

Hellman’s put out the images of the African Cannibal Tribe and the White Explorer. I tried to complain to Hellman’s via their site, but all I got demographic site. This was last year, btw.
