For those who are wondering about “Aliens in America,” the “Magic Muslim” posting really nailed the problems with the show. It’s about as funny and insightful as an afterschool special. “All in the Family” covered the same ground (white family reacts to a nonwhite visitor) 35 years ago and did it much, much better.

This show makes everything acceptable. Harassment at school is the victims fault for being weird. Xenophobia at home and at school? After 9/11, how can you blame them? And the mother, what a wonderful woman to take pity on the foreign kid. If she only known about his parents at the beginning this would have never happened.
Although I have to say that this shows makes White America look perfectly ridiculous and spoiled.

I always thought Isaiah was an effeminate jerk! And leave it up to him to say that it’s not-so-bad for a black man to call a black woman a bitch. Now, he has sparked a new team of misogynist excusers who claim “it’s just our culture”, as if that makes it right. Now there’s a reason for people to think they are superior to us, even if there were NO history of slavery. When you devalue your “own”, others eventually join in on the devaluation. ESPECIALLY when you are equipped ready-made excuses for why it’s O.K. to dehumanize black women.
