Re Bush & Juan: NPR’s right to hold their ground, but it makes since for the WH to request him, thinking realistically, for a moment, about the senior national correspondents in NPR’s talent pool who are people of color with prior White House access that aren’t complete anti-Bush. It wasn’t unusual for Pres. Clinton to request NPR not use Mara Liasson (now also on Fox with Juan, hmm) given her supposed bias towards his administration. Parallel note: What Billary did to GQ recently in exchange for Clinton Africa coverage. She’ll make a good prez indeed.:

Re DC Police shooting: Sad as this particular affair is– and knowing there’s usually more than a little bit of something involved in the various accounts of police shootings from family, community, witness, officer, and administration perspectives– I’m curious why this incident matters from a race POV– given the officer and victim and mayor are all Black.
There’s questionable protocol indeed, but it’s less tantalizing a officer-involved shooting than the current flap in Oakland with the two-timer shootin’ sergeant, profilin, bad Tasers, and alleged misconduct with the wrong suspect while subdued:

Umm… when is it gonna be about stopping people from becoming criminals? Twenty black men die in this country EVERY DAY from murder at the hands of other black people.
Blacks folks are 13 percent of the U.S. population… and commit half of all murders.
Murder is the No. 1 cause of death (by a significant margin) for black males between the ages of 15 and 34.
Why is this NOT perceived by the left as the greatest threat facing the black community today?
