Today is Jena 6 National Day of Action, so get involved!

by Carmen Van Kerckhove

Thousands of people are gathered in Jena, Louisiana today to protest the the injustice being done to the Jena Six.

But you don’t need to go to Jena to get involved.

ColorofChange.org has put together a set of tools so that you can lend your support today, no matter where you are geographically.

You can type in your zip code to find Jena Six events happening in your area, you can find a list of numbers so you can call Louisiana officials to put on the pressure, you can print out flyers to hand out in your neighborhood, banners you can put on your web site, and much, much more.

They have declared today to be the Jena 6 National Day of Action. So get involved!

Tomorrow’s link post will be devoted exclusively to Jena Six-related stories. So if you have any links you’d like us to include, please submit them via del.icio.us!

Sorry I didn’t share this earlier. I know this will be blogged tomorrow, but if you didn’t catch Bush’s press conference earlier today, you’ll have to see this priceless exchange with CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux who tried to pin Bush down on the “Jena 6″ as well as a deterioration in race relations. Michael Fletcher from the Washington Post also tried later to ask another question. Note the comments as much as the silence. I wouldn’t want to spoil the fun…

Great idea, but the main stream white media is already painting this as “bunch of black or pro-black wackos planning on disturbing the lives of the poor, innocent white resident of a quaint Souther town over some teenage BLACK thugs.” This country is still dominated by racist media giants.
