Someone please tell Whoopi to STFU. I want to know how even though we’re at war, we still have money to fund that secret CIA program that sticks a microphone in front of every black celebrity with something stupid to say.

Or maybe she just has a soft spot for making excuses for people who do really stupid things, like her ex husband performing at her roast in blackface.

I hate to resurrect a dead discussion, but Brad should really take a look at that White Liberal Bingo post.

For someone who denounces white libs as actively as he does, he sure would do pretty well with one of those cards.

Re the biracial man harassed at the auto body shop where he worked: This just goes to show that workplace harassment is about power, not sex. In this case it was about keeping a man of color “in his place” – he probably threatened the white male power balance. I’ve heard of many cases where men get harassed for not being “Masculine” enough or being thought of as gay.

Re Whoopi – oh, the stupid, it burns! Not only did she have to pop out with that remark about Southern culture but she had to come up with that old racist chestnut about Chinese people eating cats. Oh puh-leeze! Hasn’t snopes.com sent that one to die yet? (Snopes.com has debunked this, as well as many others – I love Snopes.)

I’d just like to say that discrimination against a certain minority and/or a certain sexual orientation is not exclusive to white males. I’ve seen males– just “being guys”– of all colors harass and insult each other on basis of sexual orientation or on basis of being ANTOHER minority (white vs. Asian, black vs. white, Hispanic vs. Asian etc).

Seeing as the auto shop was in San Jose, and looking at the demographics of the very multi-ethnic city, there’s a chance that it wasn’t just a “white” male power balance but a unfair power balance all the same.

What I’m trying to say is that discrimination based on sexuality or color is not always relegated to white vs. everyone else. If we don’t know for sure the people who harassed him were part of a “white male” power structure in the first place, maybe we shouldn’t immediately assume so.
