Getting Justice for Private Johnson: The safety of women in the military was one of the first things that concerned me in high school when recruiters came. Of course, they reassured everyone that the military is one big brother/sisterhood with the most diverse marriages, blah, blah, blah. Diverse marriages do not equal safety for women. And to make it so bad, EVERY sinlge case of abuse, rape, or murder that I have EVER heard of other than Jessica’s ordeal has involved the females OWN soldiers. AMERICANS.
It’s All A Part Of Dr. Kings Dream: Uh, riiiiiight. No, actually, if it were up to many of the viewers and some of the staff, the very first female on cover of King would have been non-black. This does nothing for race relations. It only confirms what we already knew.
I almost choked on my KFC when I read that article!
Where Are The Non-white Kids in the LLWS?: Hmm, let’s see: most black kids are broke, soooo, they are playing less expensive sports if any at all, most black kids have no daddy and mama is either working 2nd shift or limiting them to only one or two sports for the summer, some (like some of the kids in my area) are not allowed to participate in organizations with “those racist a$$ white people” (I’ve heard this many times about the white parents and coaches – not so much the white players), and like some bloggers have mentioned before – some aren’t interested or don’t care enough to be great, and some…O.K., prepare yourself…some of the black kids/teams just aren’t that good to make it to the LLWS.
Now, were are all the black girls on the swim teams?

I did synchronized swimming in CA as a teen and even at regional and out of state events there would be maybe 1 other mixed/nonmixed black girl. The coach for the higher level teams made it seem at tryouts as if beginners participate in fewer meets, but I later found out that competion opportunities existed at the “higher” level if your family is willing to pay team dues and fees.
