Spoiler alert: Lost casting news
by Carmen Van Kerckhove
This is going to be a bit spoilery, so stop reading now if you want to be untainted. ![]()
I’m really posting this more as an excuse to perv out over Lost. Because I am soooo in withdrawal right now. No new episodes till February??? ![]()
First, Ken Leung is joining the cast next season. He’ll be playing Russell, “a brilliant mathematician who is capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields. He’s expected to first turn up in February’s season premiere.” (h/t to AAM, AA)
Second, there’s a casting call out for a character named Arthur Stevens. The character profile is for someone who is “a very tall and thin corporate recruiter who is smart, capable and ruthless.”
The Tail Section speculates on whom he might be:
There are really three major options as to where this character may fit in to the “Lost” universe. The first is that he is a member of Dharma, although from what we know of the Initiative, corporate privitization really doesn’t seem to be their game. A second guess would be that Mr. Stevens is from Mittelos Bioscience. One could easily see Stevens filling the would-be void of current Mittelos recruiter, Richard Alpert. The third, and in my opinion, most likely option may be that he is involved with whoever or whatever sent Naomi.
With the promise that whoever was on their way to the island would be even scarier and more dangerous than, “the Others,” the probability that Arthur Stevens is going to be the new “bad guy” is reasonable. Especially when you figure in this other piece of information put out as a character description. Ausiello reports that the casting notice reads, “He may smile and his words may sound soothing, but their effect can send chills up your spine.”
And finally, what could’ve been!
Kristin Bell, who played the awesome Veronica Mars, was offered a recurring role as Charlotte. The character was described as being in her late 20s, attractive in a naturally athletic way, “precocious, loquacious and funny… a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world…lots of repressed and pent-up emotions.”
She turned it down, however, and will instead play a small part on Heroes! I guess that’s cool too but how awesome would it have been if Veronica Mars was on the island solving all the mysteries? ![]()
