Learn to speak jive at the Black Acting School

I have to admit I’ve never watched Robert Townsend’s “Hollywood Shuffle,” but this clip is hilarious and touches on just about every problem with media representations of people of color in a matter of minutes. Thanks Wendi for the tip!

I can’t believe you haven’t seen this movie.
Between this skit and “Attack of the Killer Street Pimps,” this movie is a classic.

WOW, you MUST see it - in fact, buy it right now. It’s a fantastic movie, and all of the satire is fantastic.

And to think, this movie came out what, 20 years ago and in a few days, “Who’s Your Caddy” opens starring Big Boi and a whole host of other clowns of color.
In a twist of irony, one of the main clowns Frankie Faison (I think that’s his name), starred in the Parenthood, which was Robert Townsend’s TV show.

Robert Townsend started MBC after the parenthood went off the air. You may know it better as The Black Family Channel which it was renamed to a few years later. It went off the air in April however. Here’s a stub on it from wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Family_Channel
