Interesting little piece on HP customizing computers for the growing Latino market in the US. Makes good business sense.
As for Lou Dobbs getting all hot and bothered about it… yeah, he’s gonna piss and moan on his television soapbox, but then he’s gonna recommend HP as a “buy” on his investment columns.
Dobbs is a hypocrite; he is nothing short of a nativist agitator who masquerades as a **cough – cough** journalist, while he makes money off the same companies he accuses of exploiting undocumented workers and exporting jobs.
I am somewhat disappointed at how few minority and anti-racism Web sites, including Racialicious, have taken a pass on challenging Dobbs and exposing his race-baited, small-hearted, and mean-minded mendacity.

good callout on his HP remarks. I detest Dobbs & the other curmudgeonly so-called “tell it like it is” types that major networks hire these days.

Gatamala,
As a supposed journalist, Lou Dobbs understands how word choice affects perceptions on any issue. It’s not a case of “telling it like it is,” but more like “tell it in a way that incites fear and anger.” It’s no accident that he chooses adjectives like “war, invasion, and criminal” to dehumanize and demonize Latin American immigrants.
Another aspect of Dobbs’ bias is that he never addresses how economic treaties and policies are generating poverty in the Latin American countryside. Small farmers are being driven out of business and losing their lands to American corporate farms. So now they’re crossing the border to work on American farms: pretty ironic if you think about.
Finally, he unabashedly admits to being a populist as if it were some kind of badge of honor. Mussolini was a populist, Peron was a populist, and Hitler was a populist. Gee Lou, I knew you ran with a rough crowd but this… wow.
