That’s rich! Sad to see things like this still happen, and, worse, that some people seen nothing wrong with it, or even work to perpetuate it. On the other hand, props to the student leaders who finally challenged their town’s dreadful tradition of segregation. It’s a small step and it’s probably more symbolic than anything at this stage, but I think they will see a big change in the school’s racial dynamics in years to come.

According to the link, the models are Japanese. I would be interested in hearing POVs from Japanese women.

I find it hard to get my head around the fact that there are segregated proms, sorry, “private parties” in 2007 and ppl still defend them. Tradition is a BS excuse. If you’re in school with ppl day in day out how do you not make at least one friend from another race? Aren’t there sports teams, debate teams, drama, etc where they have to work together? Where do the non-white/black students go, do they get to pick a side…………? Good on the students for wanting a change, hopefully their parents don’t screw it up and hopefully it remains integrated for years to come and isnt just a one off.

Uhhh…don’t the students attend the same high school? And parents have a problem with “the colored being with the whites?”

COMMUNITY PROTEST TO DEMAND THE FIRING OF JV & ELVIS!Posted in Community Alerts, Protest at 12:10 pm by admin

PROTEST ALERT: THE APA COMMUNITY DEMANDS THE FIRING OF JV & ELVIS!
    DATE: Friday, April 27, 2007
    TIME: 12:00 noon
    LOCATION: CBS Headquarters
    51 West 52nd Street
The Black Rock Building off 6th Avenue
A community protest is currently being organized by Asian American leaders to publicly condemn the racist, anti-Asian antics of CBS Radio personalities Jeff Vandergrift (a.k.a. “JV”) and Dan Lay (a.k.a. “Elvis”) and to demand their immediate firing. Watch this space for upcoming details.

In the mean time, click here and read our open letter to CBS Radio for more information regarding Vandergrift and Lay’s history of racist and degrading remarks towards Asians.

Most recently, the tasteless duo made a six-minute prank phone call to a Chinese restaurant (which originally aired on April 5, 2007 and re-aired on April 19, 2007 — a week after Don Imus was fired for his “nappy-headed hos” comment), where they verbally abused restaurant workers with racist, vulgar and sexist comments that range from mock Asian accents (”flied lice”) to sexual harassment (telling a female employee they want to see her “hot Asian spicy ass”).

If you would like to join the FALLOUT CENTRAL ARMY at the protest, email us at: comments@falloutcentral.com
