The article on The dangers of being black in this country was piont on. I remember seeing an expirement onABC’s Prime Time in wich they showed one White women being verbally abused and manhandled in the park and on seperate day a black women being verbally abused and manhandle. Lo and behold who Had more people stop and call the police to help her. The white women . People said that they were affriad to help the black women because her Black boyfreind might have had a gun. Some old ladies walking in the park said that they needed to take this somewhere more private. and that they were distubing people. One person called the cops. As Black women this is problematic for me i f going to continue leaving in this country. If I’m attack I ‘m afraid no one will help. cause that would disturbed their natural day course. Very sad !!

The article on Rene Syler is heartbreaking. It requires a degree of committment to living on one’s own terms, and living deliberately, that I cannot fathom.
In this moment she walks forward with the strength that comes from hope, faith, and an insistence that she will be here to see her children grow and thrive. That she will be here to have more life, life changed, but more life, still.
I am awed, and send her love.
