What if they had built a wall…?

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you celebrate it! I thought this cartoon was pretty appropriate. :)

    two quick thoughts:

don’t have the historical documentation to prove it, but walls seem to be a eurocentric fetish.

malcolm x said, “we didn’t land on plymouth rock — plymouth rock landed on us.”

    HighJive,

Eh, different civs have always built walls. China’s for starters (not that the Mongols didn’t get in anyway).

If you’re talking the Americas, you have sparser populations, decreasing the need for walls. But I seem to recall reading forts in pre-contact areas where there were conflicts with neighboring groups, villages, or tribes.

    actually, i was just kidding.

although it does seem to be a eurocentric (i.e., white male) fetish, despite the fact that they didn’t invent the notion.

Sorry, I’m too serious sometimes ;)

Just to prove I do have a sense of humor:

“That’s how you build an empire: we stole countries with the cunning use of flags. You just sail around the world and stick a flag in: ‘I claim India for Britain.’

And they go, ‘You can’t claim us, we live here. 500 million of us!’

    ‘Do you have a flag?’”

It is important that this conversation stays jolly, cause comparing indigenous rights to right wing xenophobia is like comparing abortion to murder and no-one wants to go down that yucky icky path.

Oh, that comic is beautiful. It should be blown up into signs for us to carry at our next Immigration protest.
