Thanks for the bloglink to Obama. Yeah, I’ve also detected a whiff of condescention in the media – more like, “Please, run, for the good of YOUR PEOPLE” instead of the good of the nation.
I’m one of those people who think he could be a good leader w/ something to say… AFTER he’s done something! He’s a junior senator of the minority party – it’s no personal slam to say that he hasn’t had the experience we usually want of our presidential candidates who are former senators (I’m leaving way over there what we expect of our pres. candidates who are former governors)…
But in part because he would be one of the only serious minority contenders in living memory, but mostly because I tentatively like what he has to say, I want him to run in 2012 or 2016… when he has years of experience under his belt and his record is (presumedly) stable and secure (and scandal-free). Maybe that’s too much to ask…

I so love the idea of him, his ideas, and the experiences he has shared with us about the influences that have formed and inform those ideas and energies, I do not want him to make a test run. When he runs, I want it to be a push for the brass ring.

I agree on Obama. I respect him and think he’s got the intellectual dexterity to be Commander in Chief (shame that’s not a pre-req to the job). However, I haven’t heard word the first about a war che$t. My understanding is that Hilly’s runs the deepest. Kerry has the $tepmoney, Edwards has ATLA.
I would like to see him get more experience in Washington and as an executive. Veep? A run for Ill. Governor may be his best bet. I wonder if he can get IN to the nitty-gritty of politics without becoming OF it?? If he’s serious about this, he’s going to need some wise, saavy and ruthless aides. The run-of-the-mill Dems $upporter$ won’t back him – they’re Clintonistas.
