I’m glad someone (besides me) is speaking against that whole “Africa-as-nation/city” thing. I was beginning to think I was crazy!

Count me in on the “problems of Africa” thing… I’ll be trying to catch NPR’s discussion of African issues this week (on their morning news program) – this morning they mentioned that compared to other CONTINENTS in the developing world, sub-Saharan Africa as a whole has improved the least. But they then proceeded to point out that this was despite having less wars on the continent now than 10 years ago, and the successes in certain nations re: ending some civil wars, maintaining a stable government, etc.
There are some issues that seem to affect the entire continent: HIV-AIDS education, prevention, and treatment, and agriculture, primarily… but yeah, many other problems appear to be regional, not continental, and others APPEAR to be the same, but have very different actors and causes.
