Wonder if a bearded pale blond guy would have gotten the same treatment (the article mentions the man’s skin and hair color – don’t know if that was to excuse the passengers/staff)? The appalling part for me was not even the paranoia, but the passengers who IMPERSONATED authorities – dude, someone should tell folks to pull a Flight 93 when you KNOW something’s wrong. The other thing that bothered me is that there wasn’t enough follow-through. The passengers responsible should have been banned from that flight or from the airline itself – wanna-be vigilantes can interfere with existing security measures and are therefore a risk to the airplane. Imagine their reaction if the pilot was rocking a beard?
